Maybe it was too soon to watch this one, because I’m trying not to burst out in tears as I finish the last hour on my lunch break, but this is a really beautiful movie. A close friend passed of cancer a few weeks ago, and that made this film hit even harder than I think it normally would.
The final act, in particular, is absolutely stunning. It’s a powerful message that simple acts and kindness can have lasting effects on the people around you.
To paraphrase, “All that you take with you is what you leave behind.”
Not only is it one of the better Godzilla movies, but it hands down has the greatest title in the franchise. Just say it out loud, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Just saying it makes me smile.
The director of Godzilla Minus One said he must have subconsciously been thinking of this movie when he was creating his film—I can see it. Both thematically and with some of the story beats, you can see the DNA for that film in this one. For the kaiju lovers out there, I recommend.
How can you expect me to believe that she drove for a full mile and didn't notice the 6 foot 250 lb maniac with a revved chainsaw laying down in the back seat!??!?!
