Callan Bond’s review:
Not a bad follow up to the original, this 30s-era mystery retains most of the charm of the original and William Powell and Myrna Loy retain their excellent chemistry as husband and wife team Nick and Nora Charles.
The big problem with this movie is that other than the two leads, most of the large supporting cast are right out of the stereotypical 1930s acting school, which we've seen lampooned in everything from Family Guy to SCTV. Cops and gangsters talk with a fake rapid-fire cadence, and anyone under stress (especially Nora's sister), so overacts, complete with hair pulls and screeching tones, as to be completely laughable. James Stewart puts in about the only decent supporting performance.
Still, a watchable follow up and you'll enjoy it if you've seen and liked the first one.
