I really appreciated the Dad's behavior towards his daughter, even when he didn't know the true nature of their relationship. This was one of the more powerful of the films for me because of its examination of what being a parent means and what it means to give up your life for someone else's child and make them your own, and how that relates to my own life. It's nice to see films with honorable men in them.

I love watching Gerwig act in stuff like this! While not my favorite Baumbach and not even my favorite Gerwig film, I think this might be my favorite of her characters. Goes to show you that even the most screwy of us can find contentment in life if we don't give up. A nice nod to the staying power of a close friendship, too.
