I'm going to go against popular opinion and declare that I really found The Great Gatsby every bit the title suggested. It should be noted I haven't read the book and I know nothing of the story.
DiCaprio is terrific as the titular Gatsby, wonderfully charming and the glue that holds everything together. I'll also defend Maguire as well in this, he does enough to hold his own.
Also, the film wasn't nearly as over the top as I'd expecting.…
Baz Luhrmann's debut feature is without question his best film. It's much picture perfect, especially at 90 minutes. A film that is yes, overly dramatic and cliched but tremendous fun.
Strictly Ballroom will leave you with a huge grin on your face and warm fuzzy feeling in your heart. Forget your Step Up crap films, this is THE best dancing film ever.
