The Force Awakens retreads a lot of the same themes that the original Star Wars films do, this is not a bad thing. There isn't much to be said that hasn't already been needlessly extended upon, the score is beautiful, the majority of the cinematography is brilliantly done, and for the most part, the characters play their roles well.
My only true gripe with this film is that the dialogue feels incredibly hokey and out of place. It isn't awful, but many scenes feel cheapened by the inclusion of "witty one-liners" and often left me feeling sour. A few of these one-liners would have been fine, some of them are masterfully included and delivered, but some exist just as reasons to groan and turn your head away.
