Django Unchained 2012
Shit this is a good film. I'm just sorry I took so long to get around to watching it.
Foxx I'm usually on the fence about, but he does very well here. Waltz and Dicaprio were spectacular, and the remainder of the cast are equally great. Tarantino's Aussie accent is forgettable.
Another fine addition to Tarantino's portfolio and made me look forward to seeing Argo to see if it really is more Oscar worthy.

The Avengers 2012
Awesome. On the tail of a big set up from the five other preceding films, this had a lot riding on it. Needless to say, I think it 98% delivered for me. Plenty of everything, too much of nothing.
I don't know why, but the first Iron Man is probably still my favorite of this whole series, may be because I'm a big Jon Favreau fan. This is an extremely close second.

The Dark Knight Rises 2012
It seems a bit easy to say this was a masterpiece, but unless you're not a particularly big fan of Nolan or the previous films, I can't see this disappointing many people.
Everyone in the cast holds their ground, Hathaway was particularly impressive as I wasn't sure she had it in her.
A great conclusion to the trilogy. And somewhat of a feat to have had three successful films, with a string of quality actors, an extremely talented director - all of which it was rewarded for at the box office.

Looper 2012
I've come to shy away from trailers a bit, as they often give you too much of the story and I felt that may have been the case when I saw the trailer for this film.
Fortunately, I'm pleased to say that this was not the movie I expected. I've become a real fan of JGL recently and as a young Bruce Willis in this film, he didn't disappoint, arguably out shining Willis for the most part. Bruiser did however…

Prometheus 2012
I enjoyed this. It was a particular type of enjoyment: Some films come along every now and then that I get complete immersed in - I find myself completely forgetting I've been sitting in the cinema watching it. It happened to me with Inception and Children of Men, and I just get swallowed up into the world they create.
Fassbender knows what to do in front of a camera, this is yet another film he nails. Noomi Rapace was great,…

The Cabin in the Woods 2012
I personally would class this as an unpredictable horror.
I'm not a huge fan of horror films, they don't often have much meat to cling too, so I lose interest pretty quick. This movie had the opposite effect, and makes for an enjoyable trip.

The Hunger Games 2012
I wasn't too fussed about seeing this film. The premise, build up and style of it didn't really match up and wet my appetite.
But much to my surprise, I was suitably impressed by it. It's got a good style, although the hyper-stylised futuristic aspect was a little over the top in parts. The actors all do a great job, even Lenny Kravitz (what the?) fits the bill.
Definitely worth a watch.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2012
F***in aye.
A movie about a man that turns into a lizard, and a man who has the traits of a spider, and the most unbelievable part was that he was using Bing as his search engine.
I rewatched the Toby Maguire Spider-man movies - well the first two at least - just as a sort of a 'bar setting' reminder of what the movies were. And as opposed to when I first saw them, I hated them. Except for…

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2011
I could probably watch David Fincher films all day every day, and the same goes for music by Trent Reznor. So after my enjoyment of The Social Network, this wasn't likely to miss.
I could argue about it's necessity, be it that the Swedish films were great, but this is easily as good, with Fincher's excellent style.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2004
Gondry was a favorite in the music video arena, and I was pleasantly surprised when I found his name in the opening credits at the cinema. With a truly unique portrayal of dreams and memories and a fantastic cast, it's a wonderful film.

Dredd 2012
Yep.
I really hate 3D, mostly just because I wear glasses and struggle to hold a focus on things properly, so I was bummed when regular 2D viewings of this seemed to be few and far between.
But I see why. Because despite the bleak picture this paints of a rough future ahead, she's a handsome looking film. The slow motion, the 3D, the soundtrack, they feel like they all work together which makes for a pretty immersive experience.
Karl…
