Above the Law 1988 ★★★★½

Watched Jan 16, 2012

Steven Seagal's first film, and arguably his best, and a solid action film all around. The fight scenes like the ones in Above The Law didn't really exist before Seagal. This authentic master martial artist's moves flows like water as he twists wrists, locks joints, lets people fly into windows or tables effortlessly, and all around gives you a simulation of what would happen if an Aikido master were to use his skills against danger. The plot isn't too special but you don't watch films like this for the plot anyway. It does however interestingly ask a couple very legitimate questions about the CIA and the American foreign policy, questions that are still relevant today.
Highly recommended for action and martial arts fans.
