Not a patch on the original. Scorsese has taken everything about the original and added an unnecessary level of violence and cheese, to the point that it looses all impact.
Robert Mitchum was masterful in the orignal as the creepy Max Cady, De Niro on the other hand is a simple caricature.
A definite low point for Scorsese and DeNiro.

I challenge anyone to watch this movie and not want to go to Hong Kong. Johnnie To does an amazing job of bringing HK to life in a film that is a lot lighter than most of his previous.
The whole film is a nod to classic cinema from jazzy soundtrack to the superbly choreographed pickpocket "battle".
