Remake of the 1933 horror classic, King Kong modernizes the story a bit, and basically does the same thing as the original film. The cast here do a good job in their roles, and the film has some good moments, but to be honest, if you’ve seen the original classic, this film is predictable. Nonetheless, this is entertaining horror monster film that manages to be a refreshing take on the story. The cast are good here, and there are some good performances here. Jeff Bridges for me was the strongest performance, and the other actors brought some good elements as well. For a remake, this one delivers and ranks among the better remakes that I have seen.
The effects are quite good as well, and there are some terrific moments here and there that make for a highly entertaining monster film. Of course the 1933 version is far better, but this remake manages to capture the vibe of the original and bringing something refreshing to the story. The result works and it’s a fine remake, one that I think is a bit underrated, and is one that deserves to be rediscovered by genre fans. Of course, there are a few areas that could have been improved upon, but for what it, this is an entertaining film worth seeing if you’re a fan of the genre, then you’re sure to enjoy this film, as it is a gripping affair from the moment it starts, right up to its awesome climax.
