Leighton Trent’s review:
A terrific crime caper that has great noir sensibilities to it. Cusack, Huston and Bening are all terrific here, bringing three distinct, different characters to the screen at the same time. The film continued to surprise me by what it had up its sleeve and the smart writing from Westlake and subtle direction from Frears make it such a cohesive piece. And for being a dark-themed piece, I greatly enjoyed the use/splashes of color that really enhanced the film - the Angelica Huston blond do is the centerpiece image of the film.
