Ghost World 2001 ★★★★

Watched Jun 18, 2012

I like movies that give you just a small glimpse into the lives of some characters, stories that start, a few things happen and then the movie ends but life continues. The things might be small at their own, but they deal with reality, life and relationships and become bigger the more you think about and relate to it.

Ghost World is such a wonderful movie, it needs some time to get started, but once it does it captures your attention and leaves you mesmerized by its end. Great cast, awesome Buscemi (as always, he's just born to play these slightly off characters) and a lot of known faces from other movies or tv shows in small supporting roles, especially loved to see Patrick Fischler for a few seconds, ever since Mulholland Drive I'm always happy to see him, what a character, he needs some bigger roles!

Ghost World is not for everyone, I guess some people would even find it rather boring, I personally enjoyed it quite a lot, an awesome little character movie with its heart at the right place and an ending I will have to think about for a while, not sure what to make of it right now, gonna sleep on it for a night. Great watch!

  • I'm glad you liked this! It really is a wonderful film.

Here is my view of the ending if you're interested. The way I see it, it plays to the theme of the film...nothing stays the same forever. Friendships, love, life; it's all bound to chance sooner or later. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who reads this and has'nt seen the film so you can this statement however you want it. Either way, such a great ambiguous ending.

  • *change sooner or later

  • Yeah, sounds plausible, was a bit surprised how it ended, but like I said, I like these kind of movies that end but the stories continue.
