The Red Shoes 1948 ★★★★★

Beautiful! I only watched this because of the 4 star rating TCM gave it. They showed a short interview with the man who oversaw the film's restoration, which was really interesting. The movie itself is wonderful. The story is a loose adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's The Red Shoes. I really would like to see more of Anton Walbrook's films. He was excellent as the cold, calculating producer. The design and choreography of the film are amazing. I wish there was more dance in modern studio movies.

"A dancer who relies upon the doubtful comforts of human love will never be a great dancer. Never."
