Andrew Ewing’s review:
I have been on holiday so managed to avoid any spoilers or reviews which could have ruined this for me. This allowed me to watch the film simply as a Batman fan and a fan of the previous two movies in Christopher Nolan's trilogy. I wasn't disappointed.
This is not the greatest movie ever made and there will no doubt be plenty of people unsatisfied with what they see and pick holes in the plot but get over yourselves. This is a great movie that does the trilogy justice and blew me away.
The action drags a little in showing Bruce Wayne's comeback from an 8-year retirement but unless you're a little kid with a short attention span you'll be on the edge of your seat as we know something big is coming. The suspense keeps you going and there is plenty of action, twists and a real sense that Gotham really is falling at the hands of Bane.
The character of Bane added a real destructive and terrifying element, different to that of The Joker, and manages to show us weakness in the Batman not seen before. Tom Hardy does an excellent job in his portrayal of Bane, the psychopath villain. The physique, the facial expressions and screen presence is terrific but at times it is difficult to understand what he is saying.
Anne Hathaway is also excellent as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. I was pleasantly surprised.
Batman deserved this film and this Nolan trilogy. A real summer blockbuster. Take that Spiderman. Go see it.
