V for Vendetta 2006 ★★★★

Reviewed Jul 08, 2012

Excellent film with a deep, thought-provoking center that's superior to the graphic novel, a tough read that I found hard to get into. While V for Vendetta, the film, is definitely Americanized and somewhat de-fanged, what it loses in real world punch, it makes up for in memorable turns from Portman and Weaving (best voice over ever?). This film doesn't roast modern day British government, but it does still capture the "wake up" attitude of the book, to good effect.
