This Is 40 2012
Screw you guys, I actually liked it. Self indulgent, maybe, but it uses that to get at the truth of the matter anyway. I'm not old so can't say its maps on to the emotions of the age, but it does map onto being in a relationship pretty well no matter what your life stage. I thought it was funny, thoughtful and the kids were great. Didn't notice the running time.

Inglourious Basterds 2009
I'd forgotten what an experience a Tarantino film could be. Much less violence than I was expecting and more excruciating tension. A thing of beauty.

Gran Torino 2008
Sometimes I wonder whether Eastwood is such an awesome actor because he gets to play himself in the movies. Here he plays a grouchy badass with a soft spot for being awesome.
I adored this movie; the breakout supporting actors are phenomenal and the pacing is perfect. It feels real despite the heroism. I also laughed. Win.

Midnight in Paris 2011
I’m moving to France next year with my partner, so though I don’t typically make space for Romantic Comedy’s in my cinema schedule, I thought I’d make an exception for a typical “foreign couple goes and discovers Paris.
Definitely got more than I bargained for. Because guess what:
It’s about Fu#king time Travel
That’s right, not only do I get points for taking the girlfriend to a movie about Paris. I get to see some time travel.
