Evil Dead 2013
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Dredd 2012
The Raid: Redemption was better. Judge Dredd '95 was better. This movie had no real feeling. No real characters. No real plot.
What it did have, however, and the reason why I actually enjoyed watching this flick was a shitton of really gruesome bloody violence, and slo mo, who's effects made for really beautiful cinematography.

Bridesmaids 2011
Kristen Wiig makes a fabulous leading lady. The friendship between her and Maya Rudolph was quite believable....probably because they actually are quite good friends. Not to mention the fact that they're both super funny. I thought it was brilliantly cast, and all the quirky little characters were quite funny. However, here's where the movie's formula causes it to lose that half a star. First of all, no way would someone like Rudolph's character all of a sudden be totally smitten…

Safe 2012
I've been on an action kick lately. A mindless action kick. I don't care how Statham ended up a hobo, or what he did before that, or whether or not he's supposed to be speaking with a New York accent. I don't care what important information the little Chinese girl has, or what happened to her parents, or why she's so good at math if she hates it so much. All I care about is the fact that they're taking…

Django Unchained 2012
Tarantino’s attempt to hearken back to a time when funky Italian music set the stage for epic gun battles did not land in the way I’d hoped. While the influences of blaxploitation and spaghetti westerns was prevalent, it felt more like a big budget Hollywood parody than an homage. Even with the use of the original Django theme, and a cameo from Django himself, Franco Nero, I never got the sense I was watching a genuine western. It was a Hollywood…

ATM 2012
A perfect example of why you never help out your asshole friends. They just might get you stuck in an ATM vestibule, being stalked by a dude in a cozy coat. I'd love to know what would have happened had they just walked out when they first saw the guy. Maybe been a little alert. How bout goin after him? There's only one guy. Seriously though, this all could have, and should have been avoided. Your cheap, drunk, asshole friend…

Predators 2010
Meh. Not the worst movie ever, but no Predator, that's for sure. Adrien Brody seemed to be doing his best Christian Bale as Batman impression. Everything was rather obvious, and no one seemed too curious about Topher Grace's presence. Sometimes they were cold hearted military/militia/murderous/whatevers, and sometimes they had hearts of gold; with none but the chick seeming to stick to one. Danny Trejo may have, but he didn't stick around long enough for us to find out where his…

Rosewood Lane 2012
I understand what this movie was attempting to do. Unfortunately, it did not succeed due to poor execution. It all just seemed so lazy, and hard to believe. Not hard to believe in an "oh my god no way did that just happen" kinda way. It was more like a "that just wouldn't happen" sort of way. Like these people were all clearly the product of someone's imagination, have no true human characteristics, and therefore are not worth giving one…

Vile 2012
I found some of the torturey bits of this movie to be quite satisfying. A very strong effort was obviously put forth to really make you detest a certain character, just knowing that when their turn was up, it would be oh so sweet. Aside from that, however, there wasn't too much goin on. Fairly well acted, not so terribly badly written, but even with the supposed twist near the end, it all just sort of played out pretty much as expected. Maybe watch it once, sometime when you just need some mindless background screaming.
