For 90 minutes I was completely engrossed in this. Is De Niro's character a fraud or not, are they going to prove it?
Then all of sudden, it was as if David Lynch took over directing duties. What at first seems like a clever, unpredictable twist, is in fact a twist that makes no sense at all and felt as if it was tagged on at the last minute. Had it ended 10 minutes earlier, it might have been a contender for one of my films of the year.
See it, but leave after they prove De Niro is a fraud to spare yourself a pointless twist.
