  I got this list from the only movies I have not seen in the book "Sci-Fi Movie Freak". Please make suggestions. I have seen most modern sci-fi films so anything 1930s-1960s would be more of what I'm looking for.

  Tarkovsky's sci-fi is probably the purest you'll ever encounter on film. It's also the most frustrating.

  Since you're an ALIEN fan, Andy, I would add Mario Bava's PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES and IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE. Also FORBIDDEN PLANET if you haven't checked that one out, as well as DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (I actually enjoyed the remake as well).

  Also THE GREEN SLIME is a good camp classic, directed by the guy who went on to do BATTLE ROYALE.
