Watership Down 1978
Read the book a few months back and wanted to see the well regarded film adaptation. It's a sufficient adaptation, even as it suffers from some typical at the time animation moments (Zero Mostel's overly stupid and manic Kehaar, the rather slow pacing - of course that's in the book a bit too). The story cuts are understandable, particularly the lack of the stories within the story except for the intro. Mama 2013
Richly atmospheric with lots of creepy elements (the feral girls make for their own sort of horror). Reading reviews of it afterward, several pointing out some go-nowhere elements, but I can't say they bothered me at all. The things that happen seem easy enough to explain away. Will say that the ending added around a half to a whole star to my rating. Recontextualizes the movie with a standard (but always enjoyable to me) movie trope that I don't see often enough and haven't seen in a horror movie in a long time.
