Letterboxd — Your life in film

You don't have to be a fan of Marvel's superheroes to enjoy this film. I hadn't seen any of Marvel's films before watching this, and I found it very enjoyable and engaging. The film introduces each superhero in such a way that you get a sense of their personality and background, so you "get" all the interactions between the characters even if you haven't seen any of their films. Very well done on the filmmakers' part.

After much debate, I finally decided to continue my journey with Nolan's Batman and watch this infamously intense film. Having done so, I'm finding it very difficult to process my thoughts, but I do know one thing--it's not a pleasure film.

It's hard to capture my thoughts on a movie this epic (and by that I'm referring to the proportions of it) after only seeing it once, but I can say three things:

1) It's the best fantasy cross-country adventure I've ever been on.

2) I love how it managed to be frequently funny--and more light-hearted than Lord of the Rings--without being trite.

3) It's gorgeous. Most realistic fantasy settings and creatures I've ever seen.
