Sweeeeet. Okay, after reading some of people's criticism of the film I can definitely see the flaws in the movie, but for the the two and a half hours it lasted I was completely engrossed. The crew might've made some stupid decisions in hindsight and the plot's development towards the big action filled ending didn't feel completely natural, but I feel Bret Easton Ellis said it best on his Twitter: "When movies deliver the atmosphere and the grandeur and the precision of something like Prometheus: the flaws in the script DO. NOT. MATTER."
Oh, and it is well worth seeing in 3D, too.
Where does Brett get off? No, seriously though, I disagree. Those elements surely makes one a hell of a lot more forgiving, but there's a limit to the goodwill they will buy from me. And with writing this bad, I can't help but be taken out of the film.
That said, expectation levels undoubtably come into play, and the visuals are, I agree, beautiful. The atmosphere wasn't what I'd hoped for, however - probably because I went in thinking I'd get suspense along the lines of either Alien or Aliens.
3D is a pointless annoyance which I'm, for the most part, able to ignore... and occasionally find frustratingly distracting. I just want that shit to end.
