  • The Avengers 2012

    ★★★★★ Added

Without a doubt the best superhero movie ever made, sorry Dark Knight, Avengers is the new King.

  • Argo 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 09 Nov, 2012

Ben Affleck, yet again, show s the world he means business behind the camera. A taught thriller, high on emotion with sprinkles of humour.

I've got high hopes for Mr Affleck.

  • Life of Pi 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 15 May, 2013

Grandiose and very elaborate filmmaking. I missed this one at the cinema and didn't really intend on buying it. I am so glad I did. Save the waffling on at the end, the entire film keeps you right there, with Pi and Richard Parker (the Tiger).

I am no fan of 3D but I strongly believe that it really is the best way to see 'Pi'. A genuine, moving story based on the book by Yan Martel, brought to life…

  • Iron Man 3 2013

    ★★★★ Watched 27 Apr, 2013

Having had time to fully reflect on my Iron Man Three experience, I think I'm ready to disclose my view point. Read on.

How do you top 2012's billion dollar grossing super hero ensemble; The Avengers?, honestly, you don't, but have fun trying.

Iron Man Three strips away the armour and reveals the man. The titular hero; Tony Stark. The three-quel offers up a new villain in the form of the Mandarin, played ever-so effortlessly by Ben Kingsley. A terrorist…

  • Les Misérables 2012

    ★★★½ Watched 13 May, 2013

In parts, it's a lot of fun, in others, it's quite cumbersome and boring. I'll give the cast credit, it's must have been extremely hard to sing live!

  • Ted 2012

    ★★½ Watched 01 Dec, 2012

An appalling film, with only toilet humour and profanity for laughs. Whilst I have enjoyed many an episode of Family Guy, Cleveland Show and American Dad, MacFarlane is clearly out of his depth here. With moronic characters and a secondary story that takes an age to get going, Ted is nothing short of an extended episode of one of the animated shows which made McFarlane the fortune and clout he has today. Which I'm sure is why Ted was green…

  • Blade Runner 1982

No review required. the quintessential Sci-Fi film. If you don't like it, you're dead to me.

  • Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol 2011

    ★★★ Added

I seem to remember enjoying it more on the big screen? By no means is it bad, it has it's moments but I found it to be quite flat for most of the film.

  • Star Trek 2009

    ★★★★½ Rewatched 03 Dec, 2012

Never been a Star Trek fan, I was brought up on Star Wars, but something about Abrams' film piqued my interest. And my thoughts today pretty much are the same as the day I saw it 3 years a go; fantastic! A movie that has everything, comedy, drama, action and more action. J J has certainly reinvented the wheel here and the stakes are high for Start Trek: Into Darkness (2013). My only wish? Tone down the lens flair please!

  • Amour 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 21 Apr, 2013

I am a little late to the party on this one, then again, I always have been when it comes to Hanake's films. Having been a late comer to all of his films, I thought I'd wait for a home video release rather than visiting the cinema for this one.

Amour is perfect picture I've heard/read so much about.
A powerhouse, heart-wrenching almost tear-jearking story of love.

A love that is tested to its uttermost breaking point.

    On viewing Amour,…

  • Star Trek Into Darkness 2013

    ★★★ Watched 10 May, 2013

After an attack in London, the USS enterprise is sent on a classified mission to a familiar planet to wipe out the man responsible.

Star Trek Into darkness may very well be fairly empty in terms of depth and substance, it does have some of the best set pieces in recent memory. The bad guy, is pretty bad, yes, and Spock and Kirk's relationship is really coming to fruition, with the exception of Peter Weller's Admiral Marcus (who was uber…

  • Zodiac 2007

    ★★★★½ Added

If a little overly long, the film is a true testament to why Fincher is fast becoming the autuer he deserves to be. A great cast help keep the film from falling into a state of apathy, which it could have easily been different hands.
