Stuck between a kid-friendly action blockbuster and an almost B-movie style, blaxploitation romp, this movie truly didn't know what to strive for. On the summer tent-pole side, the film features a giant steampunk spider and a Da Vinci-inspired flying machine navigating through a simple-minded plot.
