Tony Black’s review:
Hmmm. I'm a BIG Herbie fan, I adore most of the original films, I grew up with them so... I found inherent problems with this update. It's heart is in the right place and Lindsay Lohan is decent as the lead (so gorgeous), but a fairly decent support cast get very little. What the hell are Matt Dillon & Michael Keaton doing in this? It's wholly predictable, utterly without surprise and... Herbie can do TOO much. They try souping him up into the modern world, making him even more of a personality, but in doing so they lose the magic Herbie had way back when. I enjoyed the past-film referencing opening credits more than the film, which says a lot. As I say, not bad but... please leave Herbie be now.
