It won the Oscar for best doc in 2011 which surprises me. I wasn't blown away by this film and think that "Paradise Lost 3 : Purgatory", another Oscar nomiated doc for 2011 should have won. Undefeated has its moments but it didn't impress the way I thought it would.

I heard such great things about this film when it was at TIFF last year. Sadly the movie doesn't live up to the festival buzz for me. I thought this was a mediocre and somewhat gimmicky film.

I never get tired of watching this film which is beautifully framed and shot in central Italy. Anton Corbijn does such an amazing job of capturing the Abruzzo region in Italy that the plot and the acting sometimes take a back seat. I also love that this thriller has a slow, methodical, pacing unlike most of the films in this genre. I watched it for the fourth time with the audio commentary by Corbijn and my appreciation for the film continues to grow.
