You know I think trailers should be banned, I know it's a great way of getting people interested and wanting to see a movie, but when it shows all the best bits and lures you into a false sense of security so much so that when you finally see it you wish for those 2 hours back, that's Couples Retreat.
Four couples go on a vacation to the amazing looking Bora Bora Resort, one of the couples goes for a new kind of marriage counselling but they all get wrangled into it and learn that they all have problems, which they were unaware of, and must sort them out quickly so that they can enjoy their trip.
Co-written by Vince Vaughn (Swingers, Wedding Crashers) and Jon Favreau (Director of Elf & Iron Man), these two have been around for about a 15 years now, starting off in the amazing "Swingers" and going their separate ways to with varying degrees of success. This is their second hook up since "Swingers", the last time they gave us the lacklustre "Made" and I thought it couldn't get worse than that but sadly it can.
This movie is a shocking waste of everyone’s time; everyone is going through the motions and just collecting their pay check. The only redeeming feature is Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead) who shines as the uptight concierge. The movie has some funny bits but they are all in the trailer. So if you really want to watch it with fresh eyes then don't watch the trailer but if you don’t have two hours to waste then watch it.
