Pleasantly surprised; first Temple and she was far less precocious than I imagined, actually has some really touching scenes with McLaglen and Smith (both terrific), even if the device of using child's naiveté to question war etc is a bit transparent. Also loses track of some interpersonal relationships but is a good Ford outing altogether. Parallel of "real" Indians and Ford's usual American Indians (signposted in the very first lines) interesting as well, if broad.
