It’s a simple story. With a solid execution.
Does a really great job of showing rather than telling.
I don’t know what people were expecting from this movie, but I thought it was pretty damn entertaining.
While I definitely appreciate the vibe this was going for, I feel like it ran a little too long (even despite being less than two hours long). I just feel like the climax could have quickened the pace a little bit.
Everything else about this movie was phenomenal.
The lighting. The moody musical score. The acting. It was perfect.
The scene where the guy in the inflatable unicorn costume destroys the community theater set due to a confetti misfire is peak Hallmark cinema. Hell, it might even be peak cinema in general!
I’m an avid player of D&D. So i can tell you, with the utmost confidence, that the shenanigans that happen in this movie are accurate.
The game is rarely serious, and neither is the movie. It’s just dumb fun.
Chris Pine is great as always.
Michelle Rodriguez lands a role she’s absolutely perfect for.
I LOVE watching Hugh Grant ham it up on screen.
And the younger cast members provide serviceable performances.
The movie is full of laughs and fun action. Go see it.
