I had always seen this film on videostore shelves but never had any desire to watch it. It is in fact a hokey, far-fetched sci-fi schlockfest, but it's biggest shortcoming is that it wasn't made 10-15 years sooner. The practical effects in this film are amazing and well worth sitting through the movie itself to see. It's like Cronenberg meets Robocop.
