Before the hour's up there'll be a dead woman in a church, her crying baby beside her; a young lady pimped out to a bar-cum-bordello; cannibal ceremonies and voodoo rituals; and Chaney, his hair shaved to an unsavory buzz, propelling his bullet head forward as he drags his useless legs snakelike across the floor. Stirringly unhealthy, reaching some kind of crescendo when Mary Nolan observes an African widow placed upon a funeral pyre and dissolves into hysterical, gleaming-eyed laughter.
