I really wanted to love this film. Visually, it's outstanding, but it's nothing Thor & Inception haven't already done. Cumberbatch is outstanding (dream casting) as sorcerer-action Tony Stark, and Rachel McAddams deserved a bigger part but she's great in what she does. It's a solid, formulaic piece to an angonizing degree, there's almost no surprises. MCU has a template and they're not budging from it, and I guess they can't be blamed with such great success.
I have other gripes, but it's another Marvel film that's just fine and doesn't take any risks.
We filled out an entire row in a theatre in Ottawa for this wannabe-Conan. Tia Carrere was better than this then, Harvey Fierstein raspy-voiced his gay-stereotype, & a friend left because they were ill from viewing it.
We ran out of there to hit each other with Singapore canes in the parking lot so we could feel something again, until the cops arrived. Once we explained how bad Kull was, they understood.
We were there, man. We were there.
