I often find "erotic thrillers" to all be quite similar, but Unfaithful is an exception. It's not entirely perfect, and it has some illogical moments, but as a piece; it's special.
Here's what I love; the way the narrative switches between characters, the subtly of the affair, the balance, the performances and above all I love the execution of the dramatic sequences.
I've read a lot of bad press about Unfaithful, but I think the film has a true power and the two lead performances from Richard Gere and Diane Lane fit the tone of it all together more perfect that it could possibly be.
I'm now enticed to finally see something that I should have a long time ago; Fatal Attraction.
