Batman Forever 1995 ★★★½

I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I like this film better than Batman Returns (seriously, that film hasn't aged well AT ALL). I get why people don't like it- Jim Carrey is VERY Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman's Batman fetish is, frankly, a bit embarrassing, Tommy Lee Jones doesn't so much eat the scenery as he does the entire film (although I think his performance is a proper laugh), and the tone is so different to the first two. But I think Val Kilmer was excellent in the role and is my second favourite film Batman, it's visually striking, and the script is actually rather clever and witty in places. If you haven't seen it for a while, give it another go, chances are it's not as bad as you remember it being.

  • I'll give it this much, it did explore into Bruce Wayne's psyche, it's like a mix of camp and seriousness, but it was not well executed. Jim Carrey is the highlight of the film.
