As funny as exciting as expected. Nothing terribly surprising except for Guy Pearce breathing fire. What was up with that?

I read the other day that Susanne Beir is considered a sellout in her native Denmark. Man, what I would give to have those standards in America. The way she plays with fairly standard melodrama plots and gives them such life and vibrancy is fantastic to watch.

Burt Lancaster was the most human of the early Hollywood greats, and in his final years he made some great films that really show it off. Here he plays a old thief and con man nostalgic for the days of gangsters and prohibition against a young, fiery Susan Sarandon. A fantastic look at people's relationship with their own pasts.
