I can't believe it took me this long to see this movie. It's really great stuff. Though it's full of symbolism it never beats you over the head with it, even in the dialogue. All of the actors are great and the idea that "We can go anywhere" is inspiring. I do find it a bit sad though that the town of Endora is being abandoned. Death surrounds it in the form of both Crispin Glover's mortuary as well as the Burger Barn and Foodland. Does this mean that there is no hope for small towns in America's future? Sure Gilbert and Arnie can go anywhere, but is that future doomed to be a wasteland of Burger Barns and Foodlands? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Either way it's still a great film.
