Upstream Color is a technical and narrative feat. It's an ambitious, vivid, confounding cinematic experience with brilliant visuals, incredible sound design, and more heart than Primer. In my opinion, this is Carruth's masterpiece.

Like it's predecessor, Into Darkness stuns with jaw-dropping action set pieces, clever writing, and competent direction from Abrams. It's breezy summer blockbuster bliss despite it's fair share of ordinary story beats.

The Place Beyond the Pines is a brilliant drama that transpires into something brave, unique, and beautiful. It's thematically dense, a little melodramatic even, but executed with ambition and artistry, and carried terrifically by it's performers.

Stupefyingly bad and insulting on countless levels, The Apparition is a manifestation of everything wrong with not only the genre of horror, but movies in general. What a pathetic little marvel.

Letterboxd, you should have a zero star rating option. This is actually one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
