As needless remakes go, the remake of 1979's "The Amityville Horror" is pretty needless. However, that doesn't mean the remake is bad. 2005's "The Amityville Horror," painted in retro-70s colors, is more Shining than original Amityville, but is good for a few jolts. The cast, featuring a bearded Ryan Reynolds and a tiny Chloe Moretz is game, and the film itself makes for a diverting, if predictable, ride.
