Letterboxd — Your life in film

Someone (or perhaps more than one someone) recommended this film to me at random a couple of months back and I'm having a hard time recalling who it was (pretty sure it was one of my many English counterparts). I think it was brought up to me because it takes place in western Washington, where I am originally from.

The perfect mood--dark, reality-based, raw, and emotional. The character development is unparalleled. This is filmmaking at its finest.

As I write this review, I've literally just finished watching Magic Mike. Wow. I'm actually reeling from the experience and I had to get some basic thoughts down before the feeling leaves. I'm genuinely blown away by the film.

Like the tide sweeping back to the sea, Take This Waltz follows the marriage of a long-time pair of 20-somethings as they come to terms with the loss of love.

I was surprised by the fact that I liked this at all.

It certainly falls into the category of a standard rom-com. The plot isn't believable and they didn't try to make it even kind of plausible that the two main characters are legitimate professional "spies." That entire part of the story was completely phony in an obnoxious way.
