Side Effects 2013
Much more satisfying than the slim pickin offerings of Haywire, Side Effects is another genre exercise, this time working within a third generation Hitchockian springboard. It’s a meticulous Jenga of a pharmaceutical potboiler headed by Scott Z. Burns’ precision and Soderbergh’s reliably yellow-hued stasis. It’s a satisfying old-fashioned romp that plays around with manipulation through perspective.

Oz: The Great and Powerful 2013
"Oz the Great and Powerful is certainly better than Alice in Wonderland; not an impressive feat but an important one. It self-extends its mythology more successfully without completely gluing itself to its inspiration (thanks to dense copyright issues). But you should at least be able to remind us why we’re so attached to the Land of Oz and make us glad we have a chance to go back."
