Clay Bones’s review published on Letterboxd:
Unthinkable just felt like a very unimaginative action/thriller. I've seen this kind of movie done before and better.
The acting was incredibly mediocre. Michael Sheen is an American citizen turned islamic terrorist, but his extremely un-menacing performance makes his character questionable. You find yourself put in a position of not really knowing where you stand with him. I think we are supposed to feel a little sorry for him, but I didnt feel that way about him what so ever.
Samuel L. Jackson didn't even act for his role in the movie. A man that will go past any boundaries to get the answers he's looking for. Again he is supposed to be this menacing character that puts us in a rotation between who we think is really in control and who's in the wrong or right. For me his role came off as really dull and lazy considering he has given us some of cinemas greatest characters.
Though the story is its own and not a remake, it felt like one. It feels like one of those films you turn on late at night and dive into for the sake of a new movie experience but its incredibly low brow shots and performances make this unthrillerable (new word) thriller an unfortunately boring watch.
