Man...How To Train Your Dragon?! You're breaking my heart. :(
I also absolutely loved Gran Torino, Super 8, Star Trek and Hot Fuzz.
Watching Gran Torino made me sick, haha, especially seeing an 80-year-old top of his form Eastwood surrounded by ineptitude. I enjoyed Stark Trek and Hot Fuzz but revisiting them did nothing for me and they get blander in my memory with time.
I like How to Train Your Dragon the most on this list but aside from 15-20 minutes of incredible flying scenes, the characters don't hold a candle to any Pixar effort and everyone is stock.
I thought HTTYD was the most Pixar-eqsue film Dreamworks has ever made.
I also really enjoy X2, but it definitely got weaker as time went on. First Class just dominates it in every way.
I just realized Magneto is probably the best acted comic book character in film yet with McKellen and Fassbender dominating their respective films
McAvoy really impressed me, as well. I left the theater with a lot of respect for him and Fassbender (who is one of the greatest up-and-coming actors out there).
BTW, what are your thoughts on Cars and it's sequel?
They are easily the worst Pixar films. Cars gets a lot better on repeat viewings, but it's still not up to par. Cars 2, I think I have only seen once. I should give the blu-ray a watch soon. I paid for it. Might as well.
I'm glad to see Let Me In on this list. Why remake one of the best films of the decade. Really is completely un-necessary.
I know, right?! Especially so soon after and it didn't even bother to take the story somewhere different, just aped the original and added a few new touches here and there. Some people preferred it!
I prefer the original to the remake, but not by a whole lot. I think both films are pretty good.
I would, however, put the original on this list. I think it's a very solid movie, but by no means a classic masterpiece that so many have made it out to be.
Juno is the most overrated film of all time, and Scott Pilgrim comes close.
I agree with a lot of your choices Colin, but not: Star Trek, Gran Torino, Let Me In,(very good remake), Winter's Bone, or How to Train Your Dragon. I thought these were all great. Most of the others I agree with. For what it's worth!
