Green Room is one of the most intense films I've encountered in recent years and deserves all the hype it gets. It's a simple premise that never gets convoluted but is open for unexpected plot twists. The violence is sparring but harsh when it occurs leading to lots of gasping and cringing on my behalf. All this works because this world and these characters feel realistic. It's a heightened scenario no one wants to find themselves in but everyone asks intelligent and rationally. Because everyone is so smart and tactful you can't predict who will survive the night.
I now feel terrible for putting off Blue Ruin for so long.
