Really really enjoyed this. I'm not a Star Trek fan by any measure, I saw the movies and tv show as a kid but don't remember a thing. So going into this blind without any nerd expectations was fantastic. I knew *just enough* of the canon to get all the fan service jokes, but not enough to be enraged at things being missed or ignored. I've grown to love the lens flares, and while this movie dragged about a half hour too long, I thought it made for a fantastic, easily accessible sci fi summer blockbuster romp.

Growing up with Die Hard, I wanted love this so much. Nope, its absolutely terrible. Not even Die Hard 4 kind of terrible. Just totally terrible.

A brilliant film about suddenly having to face life without your life-long partner. Having to come of age, when you're too old to do so, all disguised as an animated movie for children. Don't be fooled.

There is real genius and foresight in this movie, and its terrifying.
