This wasn't horrible. Not nearly as bad as I was expecting. However, I still don't understand what the big deal is. People who have read the books have told me that this didn't do them justice, but, conceptually, this is such a well trodden road that I don't understand what this movie failed to provide.

If the movie failed to capture the motives of the characters then I don't understand why not. There was plenty of time to do so.

As far as popcorn movies go, I wasn't upset at having spent time watching this, but I remain unconvinced as to why people care about this franchise.
