Memorable Music at the Movies
As one blogger noted, "[A] movie’s music is one of its most important aspects; a characteristic that is often taken for granted. A film can reveal so much within its music. Beyond the creepy background music of thrillers that tells you the killer is around the corner, music has the ability to expose characters’ feelings, actions, and a film’s tensions."
Below is a list of movies with remarkable music; the movies themselves don't even have to be that good, but their soundtracks and musical scores stand out as worthy of remembrance.
This is a collaborative list, so suggestions are welcome!
Jurassic park, ratatouille, the dark knight, pirates of the Caribbean, superman, spiderman, captain america, Indiana jones, and Kung fu panda are a few I really like.
@Joe: Great suggestions, and thanks for commenting! :)
Hmm, you have HTTYD in here. I'm good. ;)
As for serious suggestions, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" is brilliantly done. "Tron: Legacy" is amazingly unique, although I haven't actually seen the film.
I think The Graduate has to be on here - often credited with opening the way for pop on the soundtracks of legitimate films.
I also love The Trainspotting soundtrack (Lust for Life will forever mean Ewan McGregor tearing down that street in Edinburgh).
The Harder They Come popularised lots of otherwise unknown reggae tracks.
And as a jukebox soundtrack fan, I couldn't forget Quentin Tarantino - Pulp Fiction is probably the obvious one.
@Aubrey: Good choices! :-)
@Dani: Thanks! I'll add those to the list! :)
Psycho has one of the greatest scores of all-time as does Jaws. Though pretty much anything from John Williams and Bernard Herrmann.
There Will Be Blood, The Shining, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011) and Fight Club would be my suggestions.
@James: "... pretty much anything from John Williams and Bernard Herrmann."
Agreed! :-)
@Amberfool: Gotcha! Thanks for commenting!
