Erin Brockovich 2000 ★★★★½

Rewatched Jul 08, 2012

I'd only seen this back in the VHS days, and thought it was good but extremely Oscar baity. Maybe the idea of Oscar baity has changed or gotten lamer, because watching this now this felt like a truly passionate, firecracker performance. Roberts is at her best here, and benefits from having Albert Finney to play off of. It's not as slick and stylish as some of Unky Sodey's other films, but looks handsome in it's golden light.

Merits re-exploration for Roberts cynics.

Note for the shallow: When I was 20 and first saw this, Roberts was "too old" for me to find attractive. Watching this now... she's pretty stunning in this film. I caught up with it I guess.
