Colin Sidoti’s review:
Short, sweet, and simple. Walter Hill delivers an outstanding depression era period piece about a stoic bare knuckle street fighter (Charles Bronson) and the fast talking gambler/promoter milking him for all he's worth (James Coburn). The story is straightforward and there isn't much of an evolution in any of the characters, but it's great entertainment.
