The Great Gatsby 2013
The best way to view the film is by reveling in the excess of the world Luhrmann has created with "Gatsby". Sadly, much of that glamour is crammed into the film's first act, followed by slow moving and at times downright boring second and third acts. The best of the three films, but it was definitely lacking in some respects, especially in terms of the trajectory of a select few characters. Also, while the comedic moments were funny, they were overbearing and awkwardly jarred the tone of the film.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012
Enjoyable coming-of-age drama, based on a book that I've read, but didn't remember half of the film's plot actually being in the book. That allowed for a few pleasant surprises in the narrative. Great directorial debut from author Stephen Chbosky, and once again Ezra Miller steals the show, proving he can do intensely dark drama and lighthearted comedy. Cloud Atlas 2012
A bit too long, honestly, even though I understand it's hard to fit so much into a filmic narrative. Loved the concept and message that was put forth, but not necessarily a fan of the casting. Ambitious filmmaking nonetheless. Really good, not superbly great.
