The best way to view the film is by reveling in the excess of the world Luhrmann has created with "Gatsby". Sadly, much of that glamour is crammed into the film's first act, followed by slow moving and at times downright boring second and third acts. Enjoyable coming-of-age drama, based on a book that I've read, but didn't remember half of the film's plot actually being in the book. That allowed for a few pleasant surprises in the narrative. Great directorial debut from author Stephen Chbosky, and once again Ezra Miller steals the show, proving he can do intensely dark drama and lighthearted comedy.
