Cold Souls 2009
Despite a committed cast, Cold Souls is a strange beast, starting out interesting before sacrificing all pretense for a weak plot.

Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story 2005
Either a rambling piece of postmodern pretentiousness, or a piece of reflexive genius, depending on your tolerance of Steve Coogan. Worth watching for Rob Brydon's impressions alone.

The Informant! 2009
Its comedic tone is awkward, but The Informant! is held together by Matt Damon's bumbling, batty turn.

The Adjustment Bureau 2011
Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are absolutely electric together, but the script is a muddle of undeveloped ideas, poor plot twists and a weak ending.

Prometheus 2012
Its visuals and effects are gobsmacking, but Prometheus' convoluted story, lacklustre dialogue and thin characters let it down.

The Tempest 2010
The cast range from excellent to dull, the CGI is deliberately OTT and Taymor's direction is too eclectic for this relatively simple tale from The Bard.

Rabbit Hole 2010
Soulful and searching, Rabbit Hole's tender tale of loss and grief features one of Nicole Kidman's best performances.
-
The King's Speech 2010
A wholesome and handsome little flick, with fine direction and lovely performances from Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.

Source Code 2011
With both brains and brawn, Source Code invests its characters with intelligence and likeability, keeps the audience on its toes despite a potenitally-repetitive structure, and probes interesting questions on the nature of fate.

Horrible Bosses 2011
Laughs are big but sporadic, and the three 'employees' are not particularly sympathetic. Still, the three 'bosses' have a lot of fun with their roles.

The Devil's Double 2011
The Devil's Double is an excessive, nasty and unsympathetic glimpse at the actions of a horrible human being, and is redeemed only by the energy of Dominic Cooper's dual performance.

Never Let Me Go 2010
Great performances from its three leads and intricate direction from Mark Romanek help Never Let Me Go overcome very heady material and a script that jumps ahead years at a time, much to its detriment.
