I've tried about 4 times to watch Hamlet, various versions, this is the one I managed to sit through for the longest (though still not to the end, I did survive 2 1/2 hours - with a few breaks.)
Honestly, I've never understood why this is considered Shakespeare's greatest play and this didn't convince me. But artistically it is obviously a very accomplished interpretation and if I ignore the fact that I can't stand any of the characters, the performances are clearly excellent.
If you like Hamlet, I suspect you'll enjoy this. If you're a fan of Tennant's version of The Doctor then this is pretty much an encore.
For me, this was proof that if I can't enjoy it with this cast and Artistic Director (Gregory Doran is a genius in my opinion and I've always enjoyed his work in the past) then I never will.
